Senja Island High Trees Removal v1.0
This mod removes trees too high on mountain slopes and ridges on Senja island, Norway. This big island is high in the north, forming part of the Atlantic shoreline for the country, which also makes the conditions for any vegetation quite harsh. The simulators (both versions) place even tall trees all over the place, even on mountaintops, which greatly reduces the authentic feel of this otherwise stunning scenery. Senja has these wonderful finger-like mountain ranges separated by narrow fjords and beautiful meadows. Check out also the pictoresque island of Husoy!
The whole island is included, although I didn’t pay very much attention to the lowlands parts to the west. Some of the higher ground there probably should be more tundra-like. The kind of precision is, however, quite hard to reach in the sim’s developer mode, or would require disproportionate amounts of time.
Unfortunately I don’t know of a way to “ease” the thresholds of the treelines, so that trees would get smaller and change type from pines and big birches to (what we call in the north) fell birches and ultimately shrubbery. For this reason the treelines often look quite abrupt. But I find it still way better than the default.
Good places to start discovering these areas are Tromso airport in the northwest and Bardufoss airport in the east.
INSTALLATION
Just unzip the folder and place the contained folder into your MSFS 2024 community folder. That’s it, have fun!
