Fist-Pumping Excitement: The C-17 Joins MSFS 2024
The Deluxe and Premium Deluxe editions offer additional planes and airports, and while they are entirely optional, I couldn’t help but express my excitement when the C-17 Globemaster was announced for MSFS 2024. Although I’ve never flown one, I’ve spent time inside them during my service in the Air Force, and they have always held a special place in my heart. I’m eagerly looking forward to sitting in the cockpit and recreating my 2001 flight from Bahrain to the Azores, and then from the Azores back to U.S. shores. While the Lockheed C-130 wasn’t showcased, I’m hopeful that Lockheed Martin will eventually recognize the personal significance it would have for me to include their plane as an official simulation asset.
From the Ground Up
When I say that everything has been improved, it doesn’t truly capture the scale at which MSFS 2024 builds upon its predecessor. For example, the ground has been massively overhauled. The level of detail in any given area has increased by 4,000 times compared to 2020. This means that many places where we could land in MSFS 2020 aren’t going to be feasible-or “won’t fly”-in MSFS 2024 due to the enhanced realism and detail.
