SU7.1 Is Out, the Drag Bug Is Gone, and Poland Arrives Monday
Sim Update 7 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 shipped on October 13 with the National Championship Air Races, time trials and a long list of improvements, and within hours pilots noticed that every aircraft was flying wrong. Cruise speeds were off, climb rates were off, and the culprit turned out to be a drag calculation bug in the flight model. It took Asobo ten days to push the fix. Sim Update 7.1 went live on October 23 and the flight model is back to normal.
The 7.1 notes also include fixes for several crash-to-desktop cases, EFB corrections, and career mode adjustments. If you flew anything in career mode between the 13th and 23rd and thought the aircraft was fighting you, it was not your fault. Sim Update 7.2 is already in public beta, which is a decent sign that the team is iterating faster than it did in the first year.

Third-party aircraft that rely on the default flight model inherited the drag bug and are fixed by 7.1 automatically, while aircraft with custom flight models were mostly unaffected. This is the normal rhythm of PC simming, and it is why the way people search for GTA 6 mods download PC links before a game is even out looks familiar to anyone who has maintained a Community folder. Flight sim players have been managing load orders since the 1990s, and we are still doing it in 2026.
What SU7 actually added
Lost under the drag bug noise was a substantial update. The National Championship Air Races bring a Reno-style pylon racing event into the career and challenge modes, with time trials for anyone who just wants to fly fast and low. There were improvements to the ATC, more weather work, and a batch of aircraft fixes. Now that the flight model is right again, it is worth going back and giving the racing a proper try.
World Update 23: Poland and the Baltics
The next free content drop is World Update 23, covering Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, and the current target is Monday, October 27. Expect refreshed aerial imagery, photogrammetry for the major cities, hand-crafted airports and a set of discovery flights and landing challenges. For those of us who fly around the Baltic Sea, this is the update we have been waiting on since the 2020 version left the region looking like a flat generic texture. Dates for world updates do slip, so treat Monday as a plan rather than a promise.

Add-ons after a patch
Check your freeware liveries and scenery after World Update 23, since Poland and Baltic scenery packs will likely conflict with the new default airports. If the sim crashes on launch or hangs on loading after updating, the standard fix still applies: move your Community packages to another folder, relaunch, and add them back in batches until you find the one causing trouble.
